CM Punk Provides Update on New WWE Title Design

CM Punk was asked at the Comic-Con panel over the weekend when the new design for the WWE Championship would be unveiled. Punk said that he had no idea, but that “they’re working on it.”

Punk was then asked if he had any input in the new belt, to which he replied, “I’d like to say that I have a little bit of say in that, but I just keep getting the runaround. I don’t know if they’re saving the new design for somebody else or what the deal is. But they’re sick of me asking about it, I know that.”

- WWE Hall of Famer “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase will be speaking at the Evangelical Pentecostal Church in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada on October 6th, 7th and 8th.

- As a reminder, WWE Diva Lilian Garcia will be singing the National Anthem and performing at halftime during the New York Jets vs. San Francisco 49ers NFL game today from MetLife Stadium, the home of WrestleMania 29.

- WWE hasn’t given a storyline explanation yet for John Cena’s elbow surgery but WWE Champion CM Punk is taking credit for the injury at live events. At this weekend’s shows, RAW General Manager AJ Lee opened up to inform fans that John Cena is out with injury. This led to CM Punk interrupting and taking credit for Cena’s injury. As noted, WWE has been giving refunds to fans that came to see Cena.

Update on Sheamus vs. Show at HIAC, Miz Filling In for Orton

- Jim Ross and Alicia Fox were scheduled to participate in the Kendrick Perkins celebrity poker tournament in Oklahoma City today but JR noted on Twitter that it has been postponed.

- It’s worth noting that WWE has not confirmed Sheamus vs. Big Show at Hell In a Cell will actually take place inside the Cell. WWE did not mention it on SmackDown and the official match preview does not confirm it. Sheamus commented on the match via Twitter:

Cena to Miss RAW?, Sharmell Returns to Wrestling, Latest AYS?

- Former RAW General Manager Mike Adamle is mocked in the latest episode of WWE’s Are You Serious?

- Former WWE Diva Sharmell has returned to wrestling. She is the new General Manager for Reality of Wrestling, the independent promotion owned by her husband Booker T. Sharmell appears in episode 14 of the ROW YouTube series and says she will be a fair but firm General Manager.

- At last Monday’s RAW, there was some talk of having John Cena miss this week’s RAW so he could rest up. This is not confirmed but that plan was likely changed when the bad RAW rating came out on Tuesday. WWE will be facing strong competition this Monday night as ESPN’s Monday Night Football game features the Dallas Cowboys vs. Chicago Bears. On a related note, expect to see a lot from the Big Show vs. Sheamus feud on this week’s RAW.

Backstage News on Beth & Kelly Leaving WWE, Guerrero, Eve

- Regarding Raquel Diaz (Shaul Marie Guerrero), most people within WWE expect her back in action but that’s not confirmed. It’s believed she is taking time away to rest up and possibly go back to school. The feeling from developmental was that Guerrero is not a very good wrestler but is a great talker with lots of charisma.

- Regarding Kelly Kelly and Beth Phoenix leaving WWE, most in the company are under the impression that Kelly won’t be back anytime soon. Beth is scheduled to finish up in October and she is expected back in the future. A source describes Beth’s departure as it just being time for to leave. There’s also speculation that Beth is leaving in part to help take care of her boyfriend Edge after he has neck surgery in early November.

- We’ve noted that a source close to the WWE Divas division expects other Divas to be leaving soon. There has been no talk of WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres leaving but officials are aware of her recent change in life. Eve was just engaged to Rener Gracie and the feeling is that she may want some time off once they are married.

Breaking news from night of champions tonight...

Tonight's ring for night of champions has a pink middle rope in response and support to breast cancer. This comes after WWE has partnered with the Susan g Conan foundation.

John Cena Debuting Pink Ring Gear Tonight, HHH Comments

John Cena will debut new pink attire in recognition of breast cancer awareness at tonight’s Night of Champions pay-per-view event in Boston, Massachusetts, according to The Boston Herald.

The publication released a photo of Cena donning his new threads late Saturday, which includes a black “Rise Above Cancer” T-Shirt with a pink logo and pink “Rise Above Cancer” cap.

Cena will be wearing his new gear through October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as WWE partners with Susan G. Komen for the Cure to eradicate breast cancer. The WWE Superstar has a personal reason for helping out the cause.
“One of the reasons I really wanted to do something with Susan G. Komen is because of my brother,” said Cena. “Early detection saved his life.”

Cena’s youngest brother, Sean, discovered last November that he had brain cancer.
“Sean’s doing extremely well,” said Cena. “It was an inoperable brain tumor, but one of the main reasons he’s done well is the early detection. I know it’s brain cancer and breast cancer, but that key is early detection.”

Though the partnership seems odd on the surface, there are more than five million women who watch WWE programming every week, making it the perfect match.

“It’s very exciting for us to be partnered up with Susan G. Komen,” said Paul “Triple H” Levesque, WWE’s Executive Vice President of Talent and Live Events. “The WWE and John Cena have such a large female fan base, so it’s important for us to support the people who have supported us for so long.”
